Truck Dispatcher (Sales & Dispatcher) - Part Time & Full Time
In the transportation sector, a truck dispatcher is essential since they serve as a point of contact for clients and truck drivers, facilitating the timely delivery of goods. This job includes managing timetables, keeping an eye on routes, and resolving any problems that may come up while transportation is being operated. Success in this position requires a high level of organizational aptitude, excellent communication skills, and the capacity to multitask in a hectic setting.
Key Responsibilities:
Schedule Management: Organize and plan truck drivers' assignments for pickup and delivery based on shipment specifications and customer preferences. Create effective routes to maximize delivery windows, reduce fuel usage, and save money on transportation. Modify schedules as needed to account for unanticipated delays, altered traffic, or shifting delivery priorities. Maintain constant contact with truck drivers to provide guidance, information, and assistance during the transportation process. Communicate with customers, vendors, and other relevant parties to answer questions, settle disputes, and guarantee client happiness. Notify the appropriate parties of any mishaps, delays, or disruptions, and put backup plans in place to lessen the impact on delivery dates.
Record-keeping and Documentation: Make sure that all cargo details, such as the time of collection and delivery, the distance traveled, the amount of gasoline used, and any issues or delays experienced, are accurately recorded. In accordance with business standards and legal requirements, create and keep bills of lading, shipping manifests, and delivery receipts.
Solving Problems: Identify any problems or challenges in transportation operations and proactively implement solutions. Manage emergency scenarios, such as mechanical failures, collisions, or bad weather, by organizing backup plans and offering assistance to drivers when required.
Compliance and Safety: Ensure that all applicable regulations—such as those about hours of service, weight restrictions, and safety standards—are followed. Monitor the actions and performance of drivers to encourage safe driving habits and stop infractions or accidents.
Team Collaboration: Work together with other departments, including customer service, logistics, and warehousing, to optimize procedures, boost productivity, and improve overall service quality. Offer advice and direction to truck drivers by attending to their issues, helping them plan their routes, and fostering efficient team communication.

Qualifications:
A high school degree or its equivalent is required; further education or training in transportation management, logistics, or a similar profession is preferable.
Solid background in logistics or dispatching, ideally in the transportation sector.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact professionally with diverse stakeholders.
Proficiency in computer software applications, including dispatching software, GPS navigation systems, and Microsoft Office suite.
Knowledge of transportation regulations, safety standards, and industry best practices.
