We are an indenting company representing foreign principals related to electric power equipment having NTDC/ NGC, DISCOs, KE, WAPDA and power houses as key customers.
Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and highly responsible Head Accountant to establish and lead our Accounting Department. This individual will be responsible for the entire financial management cycle—from daily transactions to monthly closings, tax compliance, and statutory filings. The role requires deep knowledge of Pakistani accounting standards, tax laws (FBR/SRB/PRA), SECP compliance, and construction/project-based accounting.
Key Responsibilities:
Department Establishment & Oversight
Set up and structure the Accounts Department (personnel, systems, processes).
Design and implement financial control systems and internal policies.
Develop accounting workflows for project-based operations (BOQs, project costing, supplier billing, etc.)
Financial Accounting & Reporting
Manage day-to-day accounting functions (AP, AR, GL, payroll, bank reconciliations).
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Maintain accurate project-wise financial records.
Taxation & Compliance
Prepare and file monthly quarterly and annual sales tax returns (FBR & PRA/SRB).
Handle withholding tax (WHT) deductions, challans, and statements (According to law Section
Ensure timely income tax return filing for the company and assist in audits.
Liaise with FBR, PRA, SECP, and external auditors as needed.
Monitor tax notices, assessment proceedings, and manage responses.
Project & Procurement Accounting
Coordinate with procurement and project teams to validate supplier invoices and GRNs.
Implement project-based cost tracking and budgeting.
Maintain records for LCs, import documentation, and payment schedules.
Payroll & HR Coordination
Oversee salary calculations, advances, EOBI/SS contributions, and compliance.
Maintain staff financial records and assist in HR cost planning.
System Implementation
Recommend and oversee implementation of accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Tally, customized ERP).
Ensure secure digital recordkeeping and cloud backup procedures.
Audit & Internal Control
Lead internal audits and manage external audit processes.
Establish budget control mechanisms, petty cash policy, and approval matrices.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce (CA Finalist, ACCA, or ICMA preferred).
+ years of experience in a senior accounting role, preferably in EPC, engineering, or construction industry.
Thorough knowledge of Pakistan’s tax regime, IFRS/IAS, SECP regulations, and project accounting.
Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, Tally, or ERP systems).
Strong analytical, leadership, and communication skills.
Preferred Skills:
Experience in handling import LCs, supplier settlements, and intercompany reconciliations.
Ability to lead a small accounts team and train junior staff.
Familiarity with document digitization and internal controls for cash-heavy operations.
